Code of Conduct
Player Code of Conduct
Players, coaches, officials, parents, and spectators are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that “Honors the Game” and demonstrates respect for teammates, opponents, coaches, officials, parents, spectators, and fans. By becoming a member of the lacrosse community, each player assumes certain obligations and responsibilities to the game of lacrosse and to all participants.
The essential elements of this Code of Conduct are HONESTY and INTEGRITY. Players who conduct themselves in a manner that reflects these values bring credit to the sport of lacrosse, themselves, their team, and Victor Boys Youth Lacrosse.
It is only through such conduct that our sport can continue to earn and maintain a positive image and make its full contribution to amateur athletics in the United States and around the world. Victor Boys Youth Lacrosse supports the following behaviors for players participating in our program. The following essential elements of the Code of Conduct must be followed:
-
The goal for all players is to help create an atmosphere on the field that is FUN, positive, and inclusive, where players of all skill levels feel supported, encouraged, and valued as part of the team.
-
Winning games is not the ultimate goal of our program. Improving individual skills, confidence, teamwork, and love for the game through effort, sportsmanship, and commitment is how our program defines success.
-
Sportsmanship and fair play are essential to the game of lacrosse and must be demonstrated at all times during practices and games. Players are expected to learn how to win with humility and lose with respect.
-
Players must always demonstrate positive behavior and respect toward teammates, opponents, coaches, officials, parents, and spectators, both on and off the field.
-
Players are expected to understand that their actions matter. Effort, attitude, body language, and words reflect not only on themselves, but also on their team and Victor Boys Youth Lacrosse.
-
Players should encourage teammates, celebrate effort, and support one another, regardless of individual performance, playing time, or game outcome.
-
The safety and well-being of all players is the program’s #1 priority. Players are expected to follow rules, listen to coaches and officials, and play the game in a safe and controlled manner.
-
No verbal or physical arguments with officials, opponents, coaches, teammates, parents, or spectators will be tolerated. Zero Tolerance applies to taunting, trash talk, threats, or unsportsmanlike conduct.
-
Players are expected to have a basic understanding of the rules of lacrosse and to play within both the letter and the spirit of the rules. Attempts to cheat, deceive officials, or gain an unfair advantage are unacceptable.
-
Players must show respect for officials at all times, understanding that officials are an essential part of the game. Questioning, arguing, or showing disrespect toward officials is not permitted.
-
Players are expected to represent Victor Boys Youth Lacrosse with class and pride, recognizing that their behavior influences teammates, younger players, and the reputation of the program.
Failure to adhere to this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action as determined by Victor Boys Youth Lacrosse, including removal from practices or games.
